WOOD SPECIES
WESTERN RED CEDAR |
PROS | Light weight, rot resistant, good balance of stiffness and flex
CONS | Softwood can dent easily

PROS | Strong and dense. Rot resistant
CONS | Less flex and heavier than cedar.
SHOULDERS
The transitions between the loom and blades. It’s where you primarily hold the paddle and it’s shape can be made to anchor your grip as much as you like.
NO SHOULDERS
Totally smooth and clean transition with no feel of a shoulder index.

SOFT SHOULDERS
Comfortable and relaxed feel with a slight shoulder index

HARD SHOULDERS
Abrupt transition that’s been shaped for a comfortable shoulder index
